The origin

From DARPA to your daily routine

Tecton's R3HBG started with a decorated Green Beret combat medic whose DARPA work on human resilience exposed him to the earliest ketone research. Two decades of development later, that effort produced the molecule and the delivery system that makes it work.

Most exogenous ketones taste terrible and barely absorb. We solved both problems the slow way, with more years in the lab. The result is a molecule your body recognizes, wrapped in a shell that gets it where it needs to go.

How we got here

More than a decade from lab bench to your hands.

2003
Research begins
Teams at the University of Oxford and the National Institutes of Health start investigating exogenous ketones as a viable fuel source for athletes and high-demand professionals.
2017
R3HBG identified
After testing dozens of ketone esters, researchers isolate R3HBG as the most bioavailable form. The molecule is bioidentical to what your liver produces during fasting, and Georgia Tech builds the first working prototype.
2022
Liposomal delivery
Partnership with the University of Missouri leads to the patented liposomal shell that protects R3HBG through digestion, solving the absorption problem that plagued earlier ketone products.
2024
NDI No. 1354 filed
Tecton files its New Dietary Ingredient notification with the FDA. The filing is accepted, making R3HBG one of the few ketone ingredients with regulatory recognition.
2025
First product ships
EDGE Electrolytes launches as the first Tecton product. NSF Certified for Sport from day one. No shortcuts.
